I just finished my first fifteen miles testing the Schwinn Discovery Bike. I love it! I have been looking for a comfy cruiser style bike but versatile enough to go from trails to off road. I biked 1/2 way up my super steep hill with no problem. I have never worked on a bike before and with a few tools I was able to but on the front tire, pedals and handle bars.
Assembly is honestly not difficult at all; I didn’t even open a page of the manual. However, when I finished assembling it, I did a test-riding as I mentioned, and I found that the brakes were too close to the wheel frame and the slight friction was making annoying rubbing noises. The seat is very comfortable.
After having it properly built the bike is perfect! I really love it. It is durable and sporty enough to take off road, but also light and comfortable enough for leisurely rides. This bike fits the bill perfectly – it has the mud guards and the cute back rack, but it can keep up too! There are a lot of gears, I don’t change them too much, but I do like having them instead of just 1 or 3 options. It is gorgeous too!! I get a lot of compliments.
It was hard to decide on a bike online, but this is definitely the right choice. I shopped everywhere prior to purchasing this bike–bike shops, big box stores, online. You name it, I looked there. I’m not a big-time cyclist, but I do live in a bike-friendly city and wanted to be able to commute to work. As such, I wanted something comfortable that would allow me to sit upright, lightweight, hand brakes, and a decent look. This fits the bill for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend Schwinn Discovery Bike if you want a cute, sophisticated bike that can ride well too.
